The new Brinsea Ovation 28 Eco is the successor to the Octagon 20 Eco Incubator. The good news is that there have been significant improvements made on this model! The main improvement that has been made is that the incubator now has a fully digital display meaning that controlling the conditions inside the incubator are a lot easier.

The three Ovation 28 machines have different features. The Ovation 28 Eco has a digital temperature display and automatic egg turning. It’s the most basic version of the three.
The Ovation 28 Advance is the mid-spec machine. It has all the same features as the Eco, except the Advance has a digital humidity readout too.
The top of the range machine is the Ovation 28 EX which has every feature from the Eco and Advance models; digital temperature display, digital humidity display and automatic egg turning. But the EX version also has automatic humidity control with a built-in pumping system. Whereas, on the Eco and Advance models, humidity must be controlled manually by filling water troughs inside the machine.
The only difference between the two machines is the size and egg capacity. The Ovation 56 is a larger machine and holds up to 56 hen-sized eggs or equivalent. Whereas the Ovation 28 holds 28 hen-sized eggs or equivalent.
The Eco, Advance and EX versions of the Ovation 28 match the specifications of the Eco, Advance and EX versions of the Ovation 56. The only difference is the egg capacity.
In a ‘manual’ incubator, eggs must be turned ‘manually’, meaning you must turn each egg by hand usually around 3-4 times a day.
Automatic incubators will automatically turn the eggs for you. On some automatic machines, you can set the timings of the turns, as well as the duration or angle of the turn. This can be important if you’re incubating specialist birds such as falcons or exotic birds.
Semi-automatic incubators don’t require you to turn each egg by hand, but equally there is no motor to turn them for you either. So, normally semi-automatic machines have a handle or lever that you push and pull to roll or rock all the eggs at the same time. Or, some incubators have specially shaped bases that allow you to tilt the entire machine back and forth.
Please note that ‘manual’ and ‘automatic’, when used in the item name, only refers to the egg turning type. It does not relate to the humidity control or to any other feature.
The first difference between the Ovation 28 Eco and the Rcom 20 Max and Pro is the egg capacity. The Ovation 28 holds more eggs; up to 28 hen-sized eggs or equivalent. The Rcom 20 Max and Pro models can hold up to 20 hen-sized eggs, or equivalent.
The other difference is the that both the Rcom 20 Max and Pro have a humidity display and automatic humidity control, whereas the Ovation 28 Eco does not. Finally, the Rcom 20 Pro has a ‘species selector’ feature and specific settings for egg-turning; both of which are unavailable on the Ovation 28 Eco.

My first incubator was a cheap on ebay. I spent loads on eggs and postage but nothing hatched. I thought it was the eggs. Then just over 3 weeks ago I bought this one, more expensive but so easy to work and a full hatch of baby chicks. Great temperature keepings. I am thrilled to bits with it. |

Super speedy service, informative and easy to use website and incredibly quick delivery despite being mid lockdown! I will definitely return for further products. Regarding the incubator it was very easy to assemble and get going...almost plug in and ready to go. First lot of eggs in, patiently waiting for hatch day! |

This is my second incubator I have purchased. Easy to understand instructions, great customers services. Currently my first incubators has 20 Khaki Cambell eggs, all candled and fertile. The second incubator is being set up for Vorverk and Silver Laced Wyndotte hen eggs. |

This replaces the old Brinsea Octagon I still have some 20 years on! Great incubator, secure and accurate, waiting for first hatch but all good so far! |

Excellent service. Very pleased with the incubator. Four chicks have had in the last couple of days. Would definitely recommend. |

Using the incubator for the first time, all aspects so simple to assemble and use, looking forward to first hatch in a couple of days. |

We brought this after our cheap one blew the motherboard. Paid extra for next day delivery which had just passed the cut off for guarnateed next day, however it was still posted out and arrived nice and early the next day, along with a little pack of love hearts, you don't get little free gifts from other companies. Now back to the product its well built and running well, eggs haven't been set long but I have no reason to doubt this incubator won't perform. It runs quiet but it does sound an a alarm each time the trays turn, not sure why but isn't too loud that its a nuisance, can still hear the TV over it just fine for the 2-3 seconds it makes the noise. I fully recommend this product and The Incubator Shop as a seller. I've messaged them twice and they sent replies fast and well detailed. Honestly can't rate these high enough, keep up the excellent service! :) |

Great service. I had it fired up the same day and it's keeping perfect temperature. Just hope I get a successful hatch/s. My only regret is I did not spend a bit extra on the advance model with humidity display. |

We bought this after our old incubator of a similar size gave up the ghost. We chose this model because we had had so much success with our Brinsea Mini 2 Advance (100% Hatch rates) and this one was very similar in spec. We are half way through our first incubation period and so far we are not disappointed. It was easy to set up, almost just switch on and go. It is well built as you would expect from Brinsea and well thought out. You will not be disappointed with this incubator. |

I've had this incubator for a few months now and it works a treat. My only slightly negative comment is that it is a bit difficult to clean the top |

I’ve used a couple of different brands of incubator over the last 5 years from Janoel to RCom. I’ve upped my hatching this year and couldn’t get hold of another RCom so I opted for Brinsea because of their reputation. This incubator holds more eggs, the auto-turner looks to be a great set up, visibility is good and the controls are easy to use. I’m not so keen on the water reservoirs or the slider to alter it as you have to open the machine up to add water whereas my RCom has an external pump, but I didn’t chose the upgrade option of the automatic humidity due to limited funds, so that’s on me. I do tend to dry hatch, but if I were doing ducks I’d probably use the RCom for those. I’m not sure how you’d tackle cleaning the lid due to the double skinned wall, again, the RCom wins on that as it has a few clips that allow for easy and thorough cleaning between hatches. Overall, this incubator will be an asset to my hatching, it’s nice to have an additional piece of kit to share the burden and so far so good, it’s quiet, well made and easy to set up |

I've now been using this incubator for a couple of years, perfect results every time. Fairly quiet, very easy to set up. I try and actually hatch in a different one as the lid is a bit fiddly to clean the fluff from. |

I loved my smaller brinsea so thought I would treatmyself to bigger and better model as the reviews were great! However I was disappointed to find there is no countdown timer like on the smaller model and there is no external water filler port, I know these probably don't seem important but my children hatch the eggs at our homestead. When emailed brinsea asking why its not on this model was basically told the smaller ones are aimed at kids and schools and these are for more serious hatchers and u should just use a calender!! I think for the price these cost it would be on them. |

It is with great disappointment that I am actually leaving a 1 star review for this product. I invested in this new Brinsea incubator based on their previous excellent products & reputation. Out of 28 fertile chicken eggs, only 8 of them actually hatched using this new incubator. When I performed an eggtopsy and on the remaining 20 eggs, it would appear that the automatic egg turners did not turn the eggs sufficiently enough for them to develop, and all I had was 20 eggs with yolks in. Basically the automatic egg turners just swing the eggs from side to side - they don't actually rotate them at all. I am hugely disappointed at having to leave this review, but I do feel slightly misled as the automatic egg turner in the product description does not actually turn the eggs - it moves them left to right then back again - that's it! The eggs are not rotated by the incubator, hence why out of 28 fertile eggs, only 8 actually developed and hatched. I would not recommend this incubator to anybody and feel hugely let down as it was purchased based on Brinsea's previous excellent reputation. This incubator wasn't exactly cheap to buy either so I think Brinsea needs to rethink the design of the product. I have MANY years of hatching experience, using all different branded incubators and expected far better from a company such as Brinsea. Extremely disappointed customer. I have previously owned a Brinsea incubator which is why I am so disappointed with this product. |
