This galvanised treadle feeder has a capacity of 10Ltr, which equates to approximately 7.5kg of Pelletised type food. (not suitable for grain or meal)
Its unique design keeps the poultry feed completely sealed until the weight of a hen is applied. Once the bird stands on the feeder, the feeder opens allowing the bird to feed. When the bird steps off the feeder, the lid closes again, protecting the food from rats and mice. This fantastic feature will save lots of money in stolen or wasted food!
1 large hen can feed from this treadle feeder at one time.
The treadle shutter will open when the weight of the bird is in excess of 800 grams upwards.

I've had this a few weeks now and all the hens have learnt to use it, whilst the rats don't appear to have done so. Some food does drop out and I need to move the feeder sometimes so that the hens can clear up. Well made and should last. |

Love the new feeder. No rats and the rooks are gone. Saving loads of money already on not feeding the rats and rooks, just our chickens! |

Very happy with the feeder it arrived in good time , the construction is very solid , could possibly do with a handle to remove the lid but this would not stop me buying again definitely recommend. |

Excellent feeder. Silkies took 4 days to learn to use the feeder - they didn't initially like the clang when closing. Began with a log on the treadle on the 1st day to show them where the feed was. Rats have gone - which is why this feeder was purchased. |

Excellent product which is very well made. Just a few simple steps to assemble with easy to follow instructions. Fabulous communication through the delivery process . The feeder arrived on time and well packaged. |

Struggled to understand the written assembly instructions but after watching the video it was easy to put together. My ex-batt hens were very wary of it at first but I propped it open by placing a log on the treadle so that understood that food was inside. After a day of feeding out of it like this I removed the log. A couple got the idea straight away and within a couple of hours all hens were happily feeding from it. It does clang shut when they step off the treadle but they soon got used to the sound and were not bothered by it. Not seen the rats since and I'm no longer feeding all the local pigeons and crows so overall I'm extremely pleased. |

Good heavy bit of kit. I fixed the door open with a half brick and my chickens quickly learnt how to use it. It does clang when they step off it hence only 4 not 5 stars. |

We’ve always used this style of feeder and they get used to it pretty quick if you don’t offer any other food. We always make sure they all have access. This is a good size for a smaller run. Although 2 or 3 chickens can forvon the larger ones. My only complaint was that there’s no handle to lift the lid, hence four stars instead of 5. The larger ones have handles on the lid. So we made our own from zip ties and it’s working well. |

Was delivered super quickly (a novelty in the Highlands). Being dim I had to watch the Youtube video, 'cos the written instructions could be clearer. It took the hens a few days to overcome their fear of the trap-door clanging shut, but appear to have sussed it out. I spread some of their favourite treats (oatmeal and calciworms) along the feeder trough to get the Bluebells used to their new feeder. It's very different to the Bretshaw & large hat type, so quite a change for them, but we're no longer losing pellets to rodents. |
