This galvanised treadle feeder has a capacity of 20Ltr, which equates to approximately 17.5kg of Pelletised type food. (not suitable for grain or meal)
Its unique design keeps the poultry feed completely sealed until the weight of a hen is applied. Once the bird stands on the feeder, the feeder opens allowing the bird to feed. When the bird steps off the feeder, the lid closes again; protecting the food from rats and mice. This fantastic feature will save lots of money in stolen or wasted food!
2 to 3 large hens can feed from this treadle feeder at any one time.
The treadle shutter will open when the weight of the bird exceeds 800 grams.

Very pleased with this feeder which we bought as we had a problem with rats eating from our previous feeder. No plastic bits for the rats to chew and gain access to the food. The top is a snug fit so can't get knocked off & the feed stays dry, but is easy to lift off for refilling. Our hens quickly learned how to operate the treadle to access the food. |

Purchased as we were having some trouble with vermin. Works as described and good and solid. Phoned prior to purchase to get the dimensions of the product and the staff were helpful. I filled it about two thirds full and the girls pretty much just made a mess and a pile of feed on the standing tray, it doesn't appear to be a fault with the product, I think it was just the chickens being a bit scared of the letterbox sound it makes when they step off it. Since I have put less feed in so that there is not as much back pressure behind the feed in the trough which seems to be working now that they are getting used to it. As a side note you can buy these from the same seller on a well known auction site but it is actually cheaper to purchase direct from the store here, I just bumped the sale up with some oyster shell and grit to get the free postage which the seller upgraded to next day delivery for free. |

This treadle feeder has worked perfectly for my hens. The top is a good fit meaning the feed stays dry and doesn't get knocked off by sheep. Would absolutely recommend |

Like many back garden poultry keepers i was getting fed up feeding the local rats and regularly setting traps, snaring them quite frequently. This feeder was soon sussed by an elderly hen and doubt if the local rodents can vcooperste sufficiently to operate the treadle, . yes, the lack of plastic means it is not vulnerable to rodents' incisors but the pay back is that it is a little noisier. i would add that i was very impressed by the personal service of this business and would have no hesitation in using them again. well done Bronti. The product could be improved by the addition of as couple of handles for carrying it. |

Nice solid construction, was fun watching the chickens getting used to it. Is is noisier but at least I know the chickens are feeding. Easy to put together after looking a bit closer at the for sale photos on the website. Would definately recommend this feeder. |

Great bit of kit, bit of a bag when it closes but the chickens figured it out in a day. The lid is a snug fit so shouldn't get knocked off and it holds loads of food. No more getting up early to put there food out. No signs of any rats. |

We ordered this because we had a rat problem, like most people who've ordered it. We've not seen any rats since using it which is great. The chickens took only a couple of days to get used to the noise. They seem very happy with having food available all the time but don't seem to be eating too much either. Our only problem is that the link rods keep popping out at the top where they fix into the main body of the bin. It's easy to re-fix but a bit frustrating for the chickens because they then can't use the treadle. We hope we've fixed this by glueing small plastic caps on to the end of each so they can't come out anymore. Overall very pleased! |

Product is really good. Works as required for my wanadotte chickens and made of good quality material. Had an issues with product damage in transit. Company resolved. I would recommend product and company. |

Works a treat. Ducks got the hang of it after three days. BUT there were no assembly instructions, which meant a couple of hours fiddling around to work it out. Bolts could also have been a tad longer to make attatching the peddle easier. |
