Brooding equipment is used to keep chicks warm once they’ve hatched. The first 48 hours are critical to a chicks survival. After that, brooders are used to provide the same warmth and security as the mother hen would in a natural environment. In addition to a chick brooder or brooding lamp, sturdy enclosures and warm bedding are also recommended.
Egg hatchers are a specific type of incubator, used solely for the last three days of incubation, known as the hatching period. Hatchers have no egg turning facility and are humid spaces where the chicks can hatch naturally.
